Best Game of 2016

March 26, 2016 vs. Chicago

18 pts., 9/14 FGs, 13 rebs., 2 assts.

This game showcased a lot of the things Dewayne Dedmon brought to the table for the Magic this year.

This game occurred at the end of the year when Nikola Vucevic was out with an injury and the Magic started to find their groove. Dedmon showcased some offensive moves that I would not really like to see him try again but they went down — A floater/push shot? Really?!

Dedmon managed to rack up 13 boards in 22 minutes and this was an indicator of his activity. Dedmon’s activity on defense also allowed Orlando to establish an excellent pace.

In the highlights, you can see how his picks create separation. He creates the separation then rolls hard to the basket for some easy baskets. There is some obvious chemistry with Elfrid Payton here as well. You also notice him running the floor as a trailer and picking up a basket.

Dewayne Dedmon is not a very difficult player to dissect. Keep him close to the basket on offense and let him patrol the paint and work hard and he will have earned his minutes.
