Orlando Magic Player Evaluations: Andrew Nicholson
By Zach Palmer
Best Game of 2016
March 29 vs. Brooklyn
24 pts., 9/9 FGs
This game came occurred during Orlando’s final stretch of the season where the Magic were firing on all cylinders. Skiles had just put Nicholson back into the normal rotation, and Nicholson responded with a career-high 24 points on 9-for-9 shooting.
The Magic as a team were on fire this entire game, but Nicholson was sizzling. Nicholson’s jumper was wet on that night. Nicholson barely hit rim all night, in fact the shot that was closest to missing was a free throw.
Nicholson did work on a myriad of Nets players (which I guess is not a huge deal) but he exemplified his value. Nicholson is a player that has a valuable role for good teams.
Nicholson showed he could be a bench player that can score off the bench in bunches much like J.R. Smith and Jamal Crawford. Obviously the aesthetic for Nicholson is different from those guys but the role he can carve out could be similar.
