Best Game of 2016

Feb. 19 vs. Mavericks

18 pts., 5/12 FGs, 4/9 3FGs, 4 assts.

There was nothing like the first game for Brandon Jennings in a Magic uniform.

There was a different hop to his step. And he made an immediate impact with eight points on 3-for-4 shooting in the first half. This was what the Magic needed from Jennings. Just some instant offense. It was not as important how efficient it was.

Jennings made a great first impression in this game. He made his first shot on one of his silky smooth-looking step backs and then just fit in. Making open 3-pointers when they were given.

He controlled the pace and played well within himself. Or at least within the confidence that he had. Which means he sometimes pulled up for ill-advised jumpers. This game they went in.

And left Magic fans hoping they had something they did not have anywhere else — someone who could create his own shot out of nothing. Jennings finished regulation in his first game ever as the Magic would eventually win in overtime.
