The race for the eighth seed is on. The Orlando Magic are on the outside, so who must they move past to get to the playoffs?
The Orlando Magic have been close and then far away. And then much further away.
For pretty much the entire season there has been a solid goal to aim at for the Orlando Magic: clinching the eighth seed and making the Playoffs.
With the Magic’s potential and talent, along with sneak peeks of great play, the Magic’s fan base have been crying out for a playoff appearance. Finally, after the Dwightmare and the following dark ages, surely this would be the year where the Magic could break out and make an appearance. This franchise would tie its longest streak without making the postseason if it misses the Playoffs this year.
The eighth seed is fine. Even being knocked out in the first round is OK for a young team. Just get there.
Yet, as the games have come and the losses mounted, the Magic have found themselves on the outside looking in. It is the time of the season where the races for certain seeds have begun to intensity. The final Playoff spot in the East is no different.
With around a month left, which teams are the Magic facing and how can they beat them to get to the second season?
The Orlando Magic need to win, but they have teams they need to climb over too. Even as the Playoffs seem to fade away, the East is not running away from Orlando.
As of right now, the Magic are in the 12th spot. The Washington Wizards are above them in 10th, with the Chicago Bulls in ninth and the Detroit Pistons in that coveted eighth spot. The Milwaukee Bucks have now got in the game and passed the Magic with a win Sunday.
There is a lot of competition still vying for that final Playoff spot for the Magic to climb over and realize this goal.
