Orlando Magic Week 6 Takeaways: Mental growth and fortitude
By Carson Ingle
I learned this week the Orlando Magic are road warriors.
People have tried to discredit the Magic’s competitive 2-1 stretch out on the West Coast, but that could not be more unfair. Anytime you can grab victories on the road in the NBA, pat yourself on the back.
Now add to that the factors that surround this upstart Orlando squad and it looks even better.
Yes, the Utah Jazz were without Rudy Gobert and the Los Angeles Clippers still beat the Magic even without Chris Paul or J.J. Redick. However, just in this 2-1 road start, Orlando has proven they have some added mettle from the last few seasons.
Orlando lost a big lead against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but battled back to extend their winning streak. Then, the team started slow, but found a way to close strong behind six players scoring in double figures against Utah.
Even a late-game collapse against the Clippers seems more like a bump in the road than the colossal calamity it may have just a few weeks ago.
Orlando sits in great position heading into this week, needing just one win in back-to-backs against the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns to score a winning road trip.
