There is one interesting scheduling quirk that pops up three times in the Magic’s schedule. They will play three sets of home and homes — playing the same opponent in back-to-back games.
This pops up every once in a while, but I cannot recall it occurring this often in a season.
Last year, the Magic had a back-to-back home and home with the Hawks, like they did this year. Both games were really competitive with the second game ending in Tobias Harris’ buzzer beating jumper.
The trend in many of these games is for the teams to split these games. It is hard to sweep a team in back-to-back games during the regular season for some reason.
These games become interesting for the adjustments that get made in season and the somewhat Playoff simulatio they get.
The Magic get these opportunities against some pretty good teams. The Hawks and Heat are expected to be among the top teams in the East and the Celtics will certainly be fighting for a Playoff spot too.
