So Those Celtics

Nov. 29 vs. Celtics
Jan. 29 @ Celtics
Jan. 31 vs. Celtics
March 21 @ Celtics

Many Magic fans spent the summer comparing themselves and their team to the Celtics. We did too, for the record.

A lot of people think Orlando has as much talent as Boston, yet the results were so different. The Celtics won 40 games and made the Playoffs while the Magic floundered to 25 wins. There had to be something different.

This year, Orlando fans will be comparing themselves to Boston in a lot of ways. The Celtics will be a measuring stick for the Magic throughout the year. A goal to achieve almost.

All four games against the Celtics will be worth watching. They were last year as both teams split the season series. That fed the belief the Magic and the Celtics were comparable.

This year, there will be plenty to watch. Particularly at the end of January when Orlando and Boston play a home and home. These games are always intriguing — last year, a home and home gave us Tobias Harris’ game-winner against the Hawks in the return trip to Amway Center.

The March matchup could very well help determine Playoff seeding. At least, that is the hope.

Because this is a team the Magic want to compare themselves to, these matchups take on a little bit of extra meaning as something of a measuring stick.
