ORLANDO, FL – JULY 2: Orlando Magic General Manager Rob Hennigan and Head Coach Scott Skiles introduce the Magic’s 2015 NBA Draft Picks Mario Hezonja and Tyler Harvey during a press conference on July 2, 2015 at Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The Draft

Mario Hezonja was not the pick many had the Magic pegged for entering the Draft. He certainly seemed to be clearly in the running. There was no doubt the Magic could use someone with a little bit of bravado. Orlando needed some swagger.

That is not everything with Hezonja. Hezonja is a great athlete and has all the tools to be a good player. He can shoot the ball fairly well. He can attack the paint and score above the rim when given the space. Like all young players, it will be about growing and harnessing all that ability.

During Summer League, the league saw flashes of what Hezonja can be. He can hit big shots — forgetting misses in the big moments in the process — and he can score plenty of highlights. What really impressed was his vision and passing ability. Those came much better than advertised.

Hezonja’s role still seems a bit unsettled. He will likely start off coming off the bench as he continues to develop and grow in strength and mature. This is still a pretty young player (he is older than Aaron Gordon at least).

But overall, Hezonja is the kind of guy you want to pick at five. A solid player with a couple defined NBA skills with the chance to improve into something more. We just will not know until he hits the floor for his first actual NBA game.

It just may not be the most perfect fit immediately. Or maybe it is as <a href=. C.
<a href=. SG. 51st overall selection. TYLER HARVEY
