Orlando’s NBA Finals run was very nearly cut short in the first round. Really even before it could get started.

Andre Iguodala silenced the Amway Arena crowd in Game One as the Magic blew a big lead at home in the Playoff opener. Everything seemed up in the air. The Magic seemed to be a regular season wonder incapable of winning in the Playoffs, even against a team seemingly overmatched.

Then in Game Three, Thaddeus Young dug out a rebound and snatched a 2-1 lead. Orlando was truly on the ropes.

In a tie game in Game Four, it seemed the Magic were truly with their backs against the wall. They had what would likely be the final possession. They needed to come up with some brilliant play right?

Probably everyone who watched Hedo Turkoglu dribble out the clock and just stand there knew what was going to happen. I was personally muttering under my breath for the Magic to run a play and asking Turkoglu not to shoot the ball.

Hedo Turkoglu had built up enough of a reputation though. The moment he released the awful shot he took, all you could do was stand and yell, “Good!”

That is the confidence Turkoglu had. And this was his crowning moment in a Magic uniform, propelling the Magic to a conference title.
