8) Victor Oladipo

Ah, a current Magic player, and a young one at that.

It is hard to justify ranking Victor Oladipo any higher than this because he is entering just his third season and longevity is always a factor in all-time rankings by this writer (Yes, I contradicted my statement in the opening slide, to some degree).

Oladipo is superb at playing passing lanes and igniting the break. Oladipo averaged 1.7 steals per game last season and, along with Elfrid Payton, the Magic showed flashes of the defensive potential that could make this year’s team playoff contenders.

Victor had a 108 defensive rating last season while also upping his offensive rating from 101 to 108, a significant increase that was partially due to the defense. Great defense creates offense and Oladipo is a shining example of it.

He ranked No. 9 in steals during his rookie season, as he won the Rookie of the Month twice. He is a big minutes guy, too, but the energy rarely seems to leave him in his 35.7 minutes per game.

It is eerily reminiscent of a guard we will discuss a little later.
