2015 NBA Draft: 5 international bigs for Magic’s No. 51 overall pick
4) Paul Zipser (Bayern Muenchen) PF
Paul Zipser is a 6-foot-8 combo forward from Germany. He is 21 years old and will not take quite as long to season as some of these prospects. Draft Express ranks him No. 15 overall among small forwards in this class.
In the U18 European Championships in 2012, he averaged 25 minutes per game while scoring 8.5 points, grabbing five rebounds and nearly coming up with two blocks/steals per game for Germany. He excelled in the Albert Schewitzer Tournament in 2012, scoring 14.6 points per game and attempting more than 10 shots per contest while shooting 5.7 free throws per game, as well.
Zipser is a good finisher and has 3-point range, though his shot needs some refinement. He is crafty and pulls up well in the mid range. While he lacks bulk at just 195 pounds, he finishes well in traffic and he has a high release on his jumper. All of the makings are there of a guy who could be a great source of second unit playmaking.
There is a chance he ends up being more of a small forward in the NBA. It is either that or he is a small ball 4-man. The Magic may be much more in search of a legitimate 4/5, but his talent is definitely worth giving a full-evaluation to.
