Orlando Magic Player Evaluations: Ben Gordon
Best Game of 2015
Oct. 30 vs. Wizards
22 pts., 7/12 FGs, 6/7 FTs, 2/5 3FGs, 4 assts.
Things started off so swimmingly for Gordon. His beginning of the season was actually pretty good as he provided the spark off the bench the Magic wanted and helped get the team back into a few games.
His debut at the Amway Center was his highest scoring game of the season and among the most efficient he would play all year.
In other words, Gordon made Rob Hennigan look pretty smart in helping keep the Magic in this game against the Wizards before the team could not muster enough to finish — a common theme throughout the season.
Gordon’s main scoring in this game came in that fourth quarter as the Magic tried to work their way back into the game. He had 11 of his 22 points in the final 12 minutes, being aggressive attacking the basket and keeping the floor spread. The Magic scored 32 points in that final quarter, but were just too far down in the hole.
For this night, Gordon did exactly what he was brought in to do. It gave everyone hope that this gambit would work.
Unfortunately, Gordon rarely reached these heights again. Most of his strong scoring games came at the beginning of the season.
