The Magic have a decision to make on Ridnour this summer.

The team signed him to a two-year deal with the second year completely unguaranteed until July 25. It seems pretty unlikely the Magic would want to bring him back.

Orlando will need a backup point guard, and it seems pretty clear Ridnour could not fulfill that role. Ridnour, at this stage of his career, is probably best suited as a third point guard. The Magic might already have that role filled with Peyton Siva agreeing to go the D-League this year with a very real chance at making the main roster this upcoming season.

Ridnour was always meant as a placeholder.

The rumors cropped up during the season Ridnour would consider retiring at the end of the season. It is still unclear whether he will do so or not. It may come down to whether he can get an opportunity to play or not.

Ridnour clearly senses the end of his career coming.

He could very well be back in a Magic uniform next year. At $2.75 million for one more year, Ridnour’s contract is very reasonable.

Without doubt though, Ridnour is at an odd turning point in his career.
