1. Build positive momentum for the summer

This has been something everyone all over the roster has said for the last month it seems. The season has not gone how the team would like, but they recognize an important summer lies ahead of them and they need to have a good feeling heading into the work that is to come.

It has been a lot of talk without a lot of action of late as the Magic lost 11 of 12 games. Then the Magic toppled the Timberwolves and Bucks on the road this past weekend and the confidence seems to be oozing off the team.

Only one team the rest of the way is not in Playoff contention, so the Magic will have their work cut out for them to get some more wins and salvage that kind of good feeling. Process is not going to be enough to build some momentum. The Magic have to see some results and gain belief that they are headed on the right track.

Tangible results are somewhat meaningful.

The Magic are not on a hot streak like they were in 2006 when they nearly snuck into the Playoffs before their breakthrough in 2007. But it would be hard to argue that particular Magic team did not gain confidence that they could compete on a night-in, night-out basis from that torrid stretch.

Again, this year’s squad is not going to sniff the Playoffs like that team. But a nice stretch to end the season would make everyone feel good going into the long offseason. This organization needs something to feel good about after limping into the offseason the last two Aprils.

And the Magic are ready to turn the corner. There is a hunger to do so. Why not start now? Wins, unlike the last few years, cannot hurt the team. Might as well go out and get them.
