Take out the free throw shooting and Friday’s performance against the Celtics might have been Payton’s best of his rookie year. Then he followed it up by nearly recording a triple double against the Cavaliers.

It has been a great stretch for Payton.

He is not winning rookie of the year, but with improved shooting over the summer, the Magic have to feel good about their point guard for the future.
