No trade made Thursday could have bigger potential effects than this one Miami made.
The Heat made a bold move going after point guard Goran Dragic and trying to rebuild their lost championship team by adding something of an elite talent. It is not quite LeBron James, but Dragic, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are a very formidable trio for the Eastern Conference.
And let’s take a moment to wish Bosh a speedy recovery and hope for the best.
Dragic though is a potentially game-changing point guard. He is so good at controlling the pace of play, balancing finding his own shot and dishing it out. He keeps his dribble alive so well and the Heat are still somewhat constructed to surround Wade with shooters.
Theoretically, this makes them similar to the championship teams as a group that can get out on the fast break and spread the floor with three shooters (including Bosh).
Dragic is great playing with pace and is a true point guard’s point guard. That makes him a really dangerous addition for teams thinking about winning the Southeast Division any time soon.
This really could be a match made in heaven should the Heat be able to re-sign Dragic this offseason. Really, Dragic is the kind of player that should be able to fit in and match with any team that he happens to play for. The Heat could be back to their crazy paced play if Wade still has the health to keep up. Those constant pick and rolls are where Dragic really thrives.
