Second Quarter

9:44Frye leaves Lance Thomas wide open from mid-range and does not contest the shot. Thomas misses. May have been scheme to allow Thomas to shoot rather than drive past Frye.

9:23Off-Ball screen set by Thomas on Evan Fournier. Tim Hardaway Jr. gets open as Frye sinks back into the paint anticipating Thomas’ drive. Frye makes an extremely late contest on Hardaway Jr. Hardaway Jr. misses the shot.

7:51Miscommunication between Frye and Vucevic in transition leads to an uncontested Lance Thomas dunk. Frye has been guarding Thomas to this point and after this point. Frye moves to pick up Amundson while Vucevic stands in the middle of the paint. Neither went to pick up Thomas. It seemed as though Frye wanted Vucevic to pick up his man.

7:14Frye leaves Lance Thomas wide open from mid-range again trying to sink in and help contain dribble penetration. His help was not needed and he is too far from Thomas to rotate and contest. Thomas makes the jumper.

6:45Frye jumps pass intended for Thomas and forces the turnover.

6:21Frye once again leaves Thomas open from mid-range, this time trying to guard Amundson cutting through the lane while Vucevic doubled Carmelo Anthony. Again, Frye cannot rotate fast enough to contest. Thomas makes the basket.

5:43Galloway and Smith run PnR. Frye hedges hard and contests the Galloway jumper. Galloway misses the jumper.

3:58Smith misses corner three pointer. Frye does not attempt to put his body square on Amundson and he is free to go after the long rebound. Amundson gets the offensive rebound. Turns into a wide open three point attempt by Melo which he sinks.

3:21Melo gets Tobias Harris to bite on a pump fake and Melo goes for the up and under. Frye is sitting in the middle of the paint not defending anybody about three feet away from Melo. Frye seems caught between going back to his man, now defended by Victor Oladipo who crashed in to help, and cutting off Melo. Frye does bight and takes a step in, but does not meet him as he goes back to his man instead. He never makes an attempt to contest the shot. Melo makes the shot.

0:29Frye forces a tough reverse layup from Smith on a Knicks two-on-one fastbreak. Missed shot.
