Daniel Orton Center

Yes Magic fans, the very same Daniel Orton that was drafted by Otis Smith and the Magic with the 29th pick in the 2010 draft. Since being waived by the Magic, Orton has played with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2012-13 season. Last season he bounced between the Maine Red Claws of the NBADL and the Philadelphia 76ers.

This Summer, Orton played in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Washington Wizards. The former Kentucky Wildcat had a good showing, but has yet to receive a camp invite for this season. Orton is a bit of an undersized center standing at only 6′.9″, but he makes up for that shortcoming with his 7′.4″ wingspan.

He’s explosive and plays above the rim with ease. He also has really nice court vision for a big man as you can see here. He runs the court fairly well and is an above average rim protector. He scores mostly on dump-offs, put-backs and lobs, but he does have a few post moves in his arsenal, his weapon of choice is a right handed hook shot. He can also shoot a little, but needs to work on his face-up game. He has some very nice tools and he could find a home in the NBA as a backup big.
