Magic Mailbag Mondays: Week 9

After a week off, Magic Mailbag Mondays is back and better than ever! You know what this is. You ask the questions, I answer the questions. This week, we talk about Migos, Disney, my favorite albums, a bet that I may or may not have made, and we break bad. Yes. It is as awesome as it sounds. Let’s jump in!

1. Who’s going to be the leading scorer for the Magic this season?

That’s a difficult question right now. With Arron Afflalo in Denver, the Magic have a pretty massive hole in the “leading scorer” department. But all is not lost. I think Victor Oladipo can step up and be the leading scorer. Oladipo has been the clear and unquestioned leader in the locker room following a veteran exodus that sent Afflalo, Jameer Nelson, E’Twaun Moore, and Jason Maxiell to various random NBA teams. I think his leadership will translate onto the court as well.

2. How much fun would the great Michael Beasley be on the Magic this season?

I shed a tear at the thought of Super Cool Beas on the Magic. Not a tear of sadness. Oh no. A tear of joy. He’d make this year so fun. I’d be incredibly angry at every minute he would play, but I guess that’s a side effect of the Michael Beasley Experience. We’d laugh, we’d cry, we’d have more questions than answers, but we’d have fun.

3. Migos said, “I take your (girl) [I keep it PG in the mailbag] and dunk her like Ben Gordon” but can Ben Gordon even dunk?

HE ACTUALLY CAN! I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes. And now you can too. Versace versace Ben Gordon dunked it. You feel me? You got me?

4. Favorite Disney World ride?

I haven’t been to Disney World in so long. But it would totally have to be Space Mountain. Gotta respect the classics. I haven’t been back since they opened Expedition Everest though. Which looks soooooo awesome.

5. What’s your favorite jersey design this year?

Ok. I love the Magic’s design, even though I might be a bit biased. But I also love the Warriors’ and Suns’ designs too. But my favorite would HAVE to be Charlotte’s new design. They really nailed the re-brand.

6. Favorite albums so far this year?

Now you’re speaking my language! My favorite album this year comes to you from St. Vincent with her album, titled St. Vincent. Honorable mentions come from La Roux, Chromeo, Lana Del Rey, and FKA Twigs. Definitely check them all out.

7. Do Magic fans know how to do magic?

Yes. Yes we do.

8. Is Seven-Time All-Star Joe Johnson the pride and joy of the University of Arkansas?

Seven-Time All-Star Joe Johnson is the pride and joy of everything. But because I’m an idiot, I decided to put myself in a situation that I should not have. I said this and let me tell you. Twitter does not forget. But I’m trying to make it a shirsey. Functional.

9. Which NBA players/personalities best match up with Simpsons characters?

I’ll start with the most obvious comparison first. Robin Lopez is Sideshow Bob. That’s what everyone was expecting with this. It’s done. We can move on. Charles Barkley is Homer Simpson. A simple Google search yields this, and it is glorious. Kobe Bryant is, well, Kobe Bryant. I’d like to think the person punching him is Swaggy P. He is the new face of the Lakers. Might as well accept it now, guys. Finally, Gregg Popovich is Grandpa. You all know why.

10. If you had to cook meth in a trailer in the desert which Magic player would you bring along?

This question was posed to me because I just started watching Breaking Bad. I’m not actually planning on cooking meth. Ok. That’s out of the way. There is no question in my mind who I would bring. Andrew Nicholson. No question. Nicholson graduated St. Bonaventure with a degree in physics. BUT. He was originally a chemistry major. If I’m able to bring Ivan Johnson along as an enforcer, we might just have an empire. Hypothetical, of course. Totally. Yeah. I didn’t put way too much thought into this. Why do you ask?

That does it for this week’s Magic Mailbag Mondays! Send in your questions to me on Twitter (@zac_cleary) or the blog’s account (@PrestoInPaint) and you might see your question in next week’s edition!
