3. D.J. Augustin

Augustin has been an underrated player for a very long time and he showed glimpses of what he can do when given the chance last year in Chicago, when he posted figures of 13 points per game to go along with over 4 assists per game. While only 26 he has six years of experience under his belt which fits the needs of the Magic in two ways. He is in the right age group to blend well with Orlando’s youth movement, while providing the veteran presence the Magic need.

What Orlando needs is a point guard who will be willing and able to step into a starting role if deemed necessary and show Payton the ropes. Augustin also provides offense in the form of three-point shooting, something this team severely lacks in its core players. Because of this, Augustin could prove to be more than just a short term plug; he could become a vital role player in Orlando’s long term plans.

A reasonable offer for Augustin’s services could be a two year “prove it” contract worth $10 million, with a player option for the second year.
