2) Isaiah Canaan, 6’1″ Point Guard, Murray State

Isaiah Canaan is a four-year starter from Murray State who doubtfully measures anywhere near his listed 6’1″. He is compared to Jameer Nelson by NBADraft.net, so maybe it would be a little too close to home to draft another guy that basically would come in and be the same as the guy Magic fans have witnessed for the last eight seasons. But maybe that’s exactly what the team needs.

Canaan is tough and is great in pick and rolls. He’d likely be great a second unit guard, whereas Nelson himself masqueraded as a starter for the entire Dwight Howard era. It’s not as though drafting a guy who averaged 19 points in a mid-major program is going to revolutionize the rebuilding effort.

But if Isaiah achieved as much as the other Isaiah in Sacramento (Thomas), he could be the kind of guy the Magic stash on the bench as a strong injury replacement type of guy.
