Joshua Robbins says that Jameer Nelson provided a needed spark in last night’s game.

"In the first four minutes of the second half, the diminutive point guard grabbed two rebounds, stole the ball once and swished two 3-pointers.And, with three minutes remaining in regulation, his driving layup extended the Magic’s lead to 90-85.Not bad for a guy who suffered from flu-like symptoms all weekend.Nelson helped rescue the Magic as they appeared headed for a letdown. He finished with a team-high 16 points, six rebounds and five assists in Orlando’s 97-91 victory."

Rashard Lewis returned to the Magic last night and took note of the newest feature at Amway: the Eastern Conference Championship banner.

"“I haven’t been in the arena and it was something I missed,” he said, referring to the banner-raising opening night. “I was looking at the banner and it brought back memories of something we had accomplished.”"

Kelly Dwyer went behind the box score to find out more about Orlando’s victory over Charlotte.

"Dwight is averaging three fewer shot attempts per game than last year, and that’s in a start that has seen Lewis, Carter, and Ryan Anderson(notes) miss significant chunks. The Magic have won eight of 11, but very rarely have I felt Howard to be a significant, consistent force on either end. At least in comparison to where he was last year. This has to change. The Thunder, Celtics, Raptors, Heat, Hawks, and Bucks await. The team worked its way toward eight wins by alternating good defensive and offensive nights, but this cannot continue. Both have to show up, at once. The talent has demanded it all year. Soon, the schedule will demand it.The old Magic, plus depth, have to show up now. Lest I point out how much owner Rich DeVos is paying for this team."
