With all of the offseason moves the Orlando Magic made, they have created a defensive identity that could cause issues on the offensive end.

As soon as Orlando hired Frank Vogel to become their head coach, the writing was on the wall the team was going to be a defense-first squad.

After the Vogel hiring, came the acquisition of Serge Ibaka and Bismack Biyombo. The moves provided even more evidence the focus has been completely shifted toward the defense.

On paper, the Orlando Magic have one of the best defensive units in the league. Led by their stout front court, Orlando should not have a problem slowing most teams down. Orlando’s biggest issue is going to be on the offensive side of the ball.

Head coach Frank Vogel also thinks the offense is not going to be pretty, joking to Zach Lowe of ESPN.com, the team might have to win games 68-65.

The Magic are going to be relying on a plethora of players to take a major step forward on the offensive end. The two players that need to make the biggest improvements are Aaron Gordon and Elfrid Payton.

Putting this much faith in three players taking a big step is worrisome. Gordon, Payton and Ibaka are capable of showing improvement, but it may not be enough for this offense to be effective.
