The Orlando Magic ran into something of a buzzsaw as the Sacramento Kings locked down defensively and made life difficult for the inconsistent Magic.

84. Final. 91. 38. 97

The Orlando Magic did not have their offense in line for much of the game. The team got good looks and just could not hit them.

Eventually that led to defensive breakdowns and frustrations. The Magic gave up a 22-2 run to end the third quarter to fall behind by 16 points. Orlando picked up its pace and urgency to cut the lead to seven points, but ran out of time and shooting as they fell 97-91.

Scott Skiles was again searching for energy and a lineup that could provide some consistency to his unit. It took him a while to find a unit he could really rely on with the team committing fouls at an alarming rate and giving up free throws throughout the night.

The Magic shot just 41.3 percent and 9 for 31 from beyond the arc. They just could not find a good rhythm or urgency as the Kings controlled the pace and cut off the Magic’s offensive tries.

It was an uneven game in many ways. One where the Magic were able to hang around but never really threaten as they waited for them to get themselves in shape.

<p>First though we start with a player who stood out for bringing some pretty consistent energy and play throughout the game. <strong><a href=. PF. Orlando Magic. TOBIAS HARRIS. B+

<p>The Sacramento Kings have to be very pleased with the way they played throughout the game. They dictated what the Orlando Magic would do for much of the game and controlled the pace. So even though they shot 38.3 percent, they did a lot of what they wanted defensively and offensively.</p><p>Sacramento’s 22-2 run was simply brilliant defense from the team. The bench was engaged throughout and <strong><a href=. 5-9. 13th West. SACRAMENTO KINGS. B+
