3 reasons to believe in the 2024 Orlando Magic
Bench Depth
Orlando this season is the deepest it has been in years.
Through the first nine games of the season, Orlando has had 12 players appear in the majority of games, six averaging double-digit points per game and 10 players who average at least 15 minutes played per game.
None of which include Jett Howard who was the 11th overall pick in the draft for the Magic. He will likely become more involved as the season progresses.
The bench has also produced so far.
Orlando has scored 43.0 points per game off the bench this season, the third-most in the league. The Magic lean on their bench to supplement their offense and keep up the same defensive intensity.
Cole Anthony is 15th in the league scoring 13.6 points per game off the bench. Moe Wagner is 20th at 12.3 points per game off the bench.
In a league that has an 82-game season and a seven-game playoff series format, being able to get something out of as many players on your roster as possible is invaluable. Matchups, players getting hot and cold and injuries are all major factors throughout a season that having a deep bench can help remedy.
Orlando also has the major benefit of their being some serious talent on that bench.
Anthony Black, Jett Howard and Jonathan Isaac were all lottery picks in their respective drafts. Joe Ingles has been a factor and played in many meaningful NBA games. Cole Anthony and Gary Harris are two of the team’s best shooters and scorers and they also come off the bench.
Look for Orlando’s bench to be a major contributing factor this season and be one of the league’s best.
