Finding the mold

The Magic are way behind schedule on their journey to return to the playoffs.

They will need to follow the mold of the more successful teams in the league and buy into the modern style of the NBA. If they do that, they will have hope for building more than just an 8-13 seed in the East.

The hiring of a president of basketball operations is going to be the most important franchise decision of recent memory, and the decision makers must be sold on the candidate’s plan to build a sustainable winner in this modern NBA landscape. Not to mention have the patience to see it through.

The plans from the past two summers clearly did not work for the Magic, and it seemed they were attempting to build a 1990s contender instead of a modern one. It did not work.
