The Boston Celtics have been interested in acquiring a big man who can rebound and score in the post for quite some time now. General manager Danny Ainge showed interest in Serge Ibaka prior to the Magic trading him to the Raptors and have been linked to Nikola Vucevic in the past.

The Celtics have plenty of assets to work with, which would make it easy for the Celtics and Magic to work out a trade.

The Celtics have draft picks and young players like Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier and Marcus Smart who could catch the attention of the Magic. Additionally, the Celtics have players like Amir Johnson, Jonas Jerebko and Kelly Olynyk with expiring deals.

In a perfect world, the Magic could trade Nikola Vucevic to the Celtics for a player like Jaylen Brown, but that is unlikely to happen. A more likely scenario is for the Magic to acquire Terry Rozier, Amir Johnson and possibly a first rounder for Vucevic. However, Rozier seemed to be the sticking point in negotiations with the Celtics involving Serge Ibaka.

Depending on what other moves the Magic have in mind, that offer could be enough to make a trade work between these two teams. The Magic would be able to acquire a young player, a pick and an expiring contract that would allow them to have more cap space available to spend during free agency in the offseason.

These two teams have had numerous talks in the past, but will the two teams find a middle ground? We will find out next week.
