2017 Outlook

The Magic picked up Napier’s third-year option in October, so there is a place for Napier on the roster — or at least on the balance sheet. He is set to make $1.35 million next year. A drop in the bucket when the salary cap hits $92 million.

Napier though will not get his fourth-year option picked up. And the Magic are likely trying to shop him in a similar deal they used to acquire him. Who knows? Maybe that extra million frees up an extra max slot.

Would another team take such a sweetheart deal? That part is really unclear.

If Napier makes the roster, he is likely looking at a similar role to this year. An emergency point guard getting spotty minutes. That is not likely to make him real excited for 2017.

After two opportunities, Napier seems to be washing out of the league.
