Dwight Howard’s return one of the top 5 most expensive games on the Magic schedule

The Orlando Magic have been in full-blown rebuilding mode ever since trading franchise cornerstone Dwight Howard away. They still seem to be putting the finishing touches on their climb up, but the 2014-15 season could finally begin to yield some positive results. Orlando has a ton of exciting young talent, including 2013 first round pick […]

ESPN ignores Magic in Magic-Heat highlights?

When we watched the Magic defeat the Heat in overtime we saw a whole lot of this:

Right? Fair highlights of players on both teams with the Magic pulling it out in the end.

Well, apparently those who wanted Magic news on ESPN’s SportsCenter did not see much Magic. From Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel:

If that wasn’t enough negativity, there was this diss by ESPN (anchors John Buccigross and Jay Harris were on the set) on Tuesday night after the Magic beat the Miami Heat in a preseason overtime game.

The network only showed highlights by the Heat, who were playing at home for the first time without LeBron James.

Buccigross: “Brother can’t get a Magic highlight?”

Harris: “No, no, no.”

Send your letters of anger to Bristol, Connecticut.

Harris, seconds later: “I bet everybody in Orlando is going to be mad at me.”

Buccigross: “And they should be. That’s bad journalism.”

5 takeaways from Magic-Heat

So the Magic won 108-101 in overtime over the Heat last night in the preseason. That is not what is important though. The scores — and really stats — do not matter so much in the preseason. What we want to know at this point is what does this mean for the bigger picture. Here […]

Magic hold on for win, learn a lot more

The biggest learning experience for the Magic in their first preseason game did not come in giving up a seven-point lead with three minutes to play. It did not come from Andrew Nicholson cutting baseline and popping open for a 15-foot jumper to send the game to overtime. Nor did it come from the Magic […]

Seth Curry has the family name and the intrigue of fans. But can he crack the Magic's roster? Photo by Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

BayHawks acquire Seth Curry

The Magic’s D-League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks, have acquired Magic Summer League and training camp invitee Seth Curry from the Santa Cruz Warriors. Erie traded away a first round pick in the 2015 D-League draft and returning leading scorer Scott Suggs. Of course, the D-League is not really about winning and losing in the end. The […]

The Magic remain an impressionable, impressive group

For the past two years, Rob Hennigan has built a team in kind of a strange way. His Dwight Howard trade — the foundation for everything that was to come next whether he liked it or not — netted the team a mix of young players like Nikola Vucevic and Maurice Harkless and some veterans […]
