Fox Sports Florida announces 82-game broadcast schedule

All 82-games of the Magic’s 26th anniversary season will be on Fox Sports Florida this year.

David Steele and Jeff Turner will once again be the broadcast team for the Magic with Paul Kennedy hosting most Magic Live broadcasts. Dante Marchitelli will also fill in there and do some sideline reporting. Brian Hill, Nick Anderson and Tony Battie will be among the analysts the Magic use for their studio pregame and postgame shows.

The team will also air six features of “Inside the Magic” throughout the season.

Magic are done with #NBARank

For the last few years, ESPN has gathered their experts, polled them and broken down the 500 players in teh NBA down to a simple list. This is #NBARank. You have to love the debate it engenders and the defensive response it creates in fans. Think of this as ours. The list reached its top-40 […]

Three thoughts after Magic’s 95-84 loss to Sixers

The Magic suffered their second preseason loss in Allentown, Pa., 95-84 in a game that probably should have had the Sixers’ owner apologizing for bringing two NBA teams resting many of their “star” players. Of course, the Sixers even with Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel have made a mockery of NBA teams with their tanking […]

Three thoughts after Magic’s 99-86 win over Pistons

The Magic continue to roll in the preseason, putting in a solid first quarter and continuing to get great games from the auditioning Nikola Vucevic and Tobias Harris. Orlando took an 11-point lead after the first quarter and opened the team’s lead back up with another impressive defensive performance in the fourth quarter. Of course, […]

Report: Magic support Draft Lottery reform

“The Orlando Magic support a proposal to reform the NBA Draft Lottery in which the teams with the four worst overall records would have nearly identical chances to win the top overall pick, according to an industry source with knowledge of the Magic’s thinking.”

Josh Robbins, Orlando Sentinel

The reported recent proposal would even out the odds for the four worst teams in the league and then hold a lottery to determine the first six spots in the NBA Draft. The idea is for this to prevent “tanking” and teams from purposefully racing to the bottom to nab a top pick. Of course, having one of the three worst records would still guarantee the best odds at getting the top pick but it may no longer guarantee a top-four pick.

As Robbins notes, the Magic are likely moving away from their bottom-feeding days and looking to advance as a team and so winning the lottery is less a priority than it might have been the last two seasons.

Magic working to shrink the learning curve in win over Flamengo

Elfrid Payton was pushed, prodded and examined heavily in his first home preseason game. A little adversity is not going to do the rookie any wrong. It will certainly help the Magic as any adversity and challenge in the preseason would. Payton though has been the rookie living a bit of a charmed life. Columnists […]

I said I would be trying to do these every few weeks, and I was not lying!

We are at the halfway point of the preseason (almost) and it seems like high time for a mailbag. So send me your Magic questions, thoughts and curiosities. I would love to hear from you!

You can reach me by responding on Twitter at @OMagicDaily or e-mail me your questions at I will try to sort through the mailbag and answer your questions by the middle of next week. So until then. . . send me your questions!

The cliches, and an identity emerge despite Magic loss

The preseason is not a time to worry too much about wins and losses. It is not a time to freak out too much about late-game execution. There are funky lineups out there and lots of experimenting going on. Jannero Pargo scored 16 points on 6-for-10 shooting in the final quarter and Al Jefferson was […]
