To no one’s surprise, Pat Williams will represent the Magic at the 2014 NBA Draft Lottery on May 20 in New York, Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
“I’ve learned over the years that the four-leaf clovers and the rabbits feet and the Lucky Charms cereal boxes — they were never successful,” Williams said. “They weren’t productive. So we’ve learned a lot over the years. It all depends on one pingpong ball doing its job.”
The Magic will have a 15.6 percent chance of winning the top pick in the Lottery and a 46.9 percent chance to land their pick in the top three when the drawing takes place.
Williams will be the public representative and will not actually be in the room where the Lottery takes place. That honor will once again go to Magic Senior Vice President of Communications Joel Glass will have the honor of being the Magic’s representative when the lottery actually takes place. It is done a half hour before the show is aired on ESPN.
