The Magic are expected to re-sign 10-day contract prospects Adonis Thomas and Dewayne Dedmon to second 10-day contracts, Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports. Both Thomas and Dedmon were called up from the D-League this season and signed with the team last Tuesday. Their contracts would be set to expire Thursday.
In the seven days since the duo joined the team they have not had a ton of opportunities to show Jacque Vaughn and the Magic staff what they can do.
Orlando was on the road when they joined up and Vaughn seemed adamant about getting them some practice time before throwing them into the fire. Orlando has had two practice days since they joined (including today's prep for Wednesday's game against Houston).
Thomas has played 13 minutes in two games, scoring five points on 2-for-7 shooting. He made just one of his five shot attempts in Sunday's win over the Sixers.
Vaughn praised Thomas' defensive versatility after Sunday's game against the Sixers. We will still have to see about his improved offensive abilities.
Dedmon played three minutes in the loss to the Heat, scoring three points in that outing.
Obviously, the Magic will hope to see more of these guys in practice and in games before deciding what to do with them. After the second 10-day contract, the organization will have to decide whether to sign the two for the rest of the season or let them walk back into free agency.
