Back in late July and early August, all the rookies got together for the Rookie Transition Program where they got their photos snapped for their official trading cards and went through some educational programming the league requires of all rookies.
It also allowed the rookies to sound their opinions on their rookie seasons and the NBA.
So add another preseason accolade for Victor Oladipo.
The Magic's second overall pick was named by his fellow rookies in the annual Rookie Survey conducted by NBA.com's John Schumann as a co-favorite (with Portland's C.J. McCollum) for the league's Rookie of the Year Award and the co-favorite to have the best career (with Boston's Kelly Olynyk). The rookies also voted Oladipo as the second most athletic player and the best defender among the rookies.
No surprises here.
Oladipo has already been named the favorite to win Rookie of the Year by several outlets and many expect the Magic's second overall pick to make an immediate impact for the Magic. That is not necessarily so hard considering Orlando won a league-low 20 wins last year.
A lot of people already felt Oladipo was one of the more complete players entering the draft. He definitely seemed to be the most NBA-ready after three years at Indiana.
We are now less than 30 days away from training camp opening. We will find out very soon if these preseason accolades are warranted.
