Season to Open at Home vs. Charlotte; 2 Games in UK in March

The NBA released next season’s official schedule this afternoon, giving Magic fans a glimpse at the year to come, should it actually come at all.

Pending ongoing labor negotiations, Orlando is set to kick off the season at Amway Center against the Charlotte Bobcats on November 2.  The following night has the Magic’s talents heading to South Beach to face off against the Eastern Conference Champion Heat on national TV.

In all, the Magic will play a total of 20 games on national television, covered by TNT, ESPN, ABC, and NBATV.  Sun Sports and Fox Sports Florida will continue their extensive coverage of Magic basketball once again this season, as well.

One particular highlight of the schedule is Orlando’s back-to-back games against New Jersey at the O2 Arena in London, part of the NBA’s ongoing push to expand its brand globally throughout Europe and Asia.  The Magic play the Nets on March 7 and 8.

Of course, this 82-game lineup remains subject to change as the issues surrounding the NBA lockout do not appear to be resolved any time soon.  If necessary, the schedule could be shortened as occurred in 1998-1999.

As noted on the team’s website, should the NBA lockout drag into the regular season and affect ticket sales, “fans will receive refunds, with interest, in the event games are missed.”
