1) The injury bug has swept through the Magic roster, with JJ Redick, Jameer Nelson, and Quentin Richardson sitting out tonight against New York. With Jameer Nelson potentially out, this could be Gilbert Arenas’ shot. Although, Stan Van Gundy has not decided who will start in Nelson’s place.
——
2) The unforgiving New York media continues to shout about the slumping Knicks, growing impatient about the team’s ability to gel together.  Knicks president Donnie Walsh still stands by his trade decision, saying “I liked the team we had before, but I didn’t think we were going to win the championship” Stan Van Gundy came to coach Mike D’Antoni’s defense earlier today.
——
3) Meanwhile, Carmelo Anthony has apparently decided that the window for patience with the Knicks chemistry issues has closed, telling reporters after this morning’s practice that tonight’s faceoff with the Magic is a “must-win”
——
4) Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel did a little statistical digging and found that Dwight Howard’s offensive versatility has definitely expanded this year. Zach McCann of the Orlando Sentinel discovers Howard is much more effective and productive when he is making free throws.
——
5) Bleacher Report’s Carlos Sandoval argues that Dwight Howard is getting shafted with the MVP talks, saying that Derrick Rose should not be considered ‘more valuable’ because Chicago has posted more wins than Orlando
——
6) The Zen Master’s verdict is in – Phil Jackson is strongly against the Kings moving to Anaheim, claiming a third pro basketball franchise in the LA metro is “ridiculous”
——
7) The all-star caliber performances of Vince Carter are essentially a distant memory, a sad reality in the one-time superstar’s drastic fade from glory and significance

9) Dwight Howard is pretty confident he will avoid a second one-game suspension for accumulating technical fouls. But Amar’e Stoudemire and Stephen Jackson may hurt their team’s playoff chances by getting a few too many technical fouls.
