Magic-Heat Preseason Game Canceled

Friday’s preseason game between Orlando and Miami (a much anticipated first matchup between the two top teams in the Southeast Division) at St. Pete Times Forum was canceled after the crew at the arena in Tampa could not dry the floor  and make it safe for the players.

Staff at St. Pete Times Forum used the wrong cleaning solution when they put the floor down after a Tampa Bay Lightning game Thursday night. The Magic went out for shootaround this morning and reported slippery conditions. Cleaning crews attempted to dry the floor all day, even resorting to bringing in fans to try and dry the court.

It was to no avail as the court, which had not been used since a Harlem GlobeTrotters appearance in February, was not ready for play as Magic staff arrived at the arena almost two hours before tip off.

The Magic completed the preseason undefeated and will open the regular season Thursday against the Wizards.
