Dwight Howard leads four Magic players that were named to the NBA All Star Ballot, which was released Thursday. All-Star balloting has begun (already?).
You can vote for the All-Star starters on nba.com and by texting the last name of their vote to MYNBA (6-9-6-2-2). You can also fill out ballots at the Amway Center — I would bet they have them available at the Magic Fan Attic Team Shop too if you want some off-hours All-Star voting.
Howard has been named to the All-Star team the last four years and a starter the last three. He became the first player to break the 3 million vote mark in being the top vote-getter for last year’s All-Star Game.
Joining him on the ballot is former All Stars Jameer Nelson, Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis.
Nelson and Lewis made the All-Star team in 2009 with Orlando. Nelson had to sit the game out with a torn labrum in his shoulder. Lewis made his second appearance in the All-Star Game in 2009 after making the 2005 roster while with Seattle. He also nearly took home the 3-Point Shootout trophy in Phoenix in 2009.
Vince Carter is an eight-time All Star, the last coming in 2007, and a five-time All-Star starter. He was one of the most popular and spectacular players in the league in the early 2000s and won the Slam Dunk Contest in 2000.
Voting on NBA.com will close on Jan. 23 and the starters will be revealed on TNT on Jan. 27.
This year’s All-Star Weekend will take place Feb. 18-20, 2011 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. Of course, the 2012 All-Star Game will take place at Amway Center.
So get voting so the Magic can have some representation in L.A.
