Mickael Pietrus back at practice

Mickael Pietrus practiced on Monday, and he could be back in the starting lineup as early as Sunday against the Raptors. He won’t start Tuesday or Thursday, but he might dress either of those games. That brings up the question: who’s the odd man out at shooting guard between JJ Redick, Keith Bogans and Courtney Lee? You can’t sit Courtney Lee. The rookie has proved he belongs out there. He’s not (yet) a starting caliber player for a playoff team, but he’s a great spark off the bench filling in for Pietrus. SVG doesn’t want to mess with the kid’s head, and I think that’s why Lee has been getting the most consistent minutes at shooting guard. He hasn’t played less than 10 minutes in more than a month. The odd man out will probably be JJ on most occasions, which is too bad – the people’s champ has been playing great. He’s shooting a redickulous 57 percent from 3-point range in January, and his improved defense this season has been well publicized. Keith Bogans is in trouble as well. He’s the most dependable reserve guard the Magic have, but he also has the least potential and has been awful the past couple weeks. He can play defense, shoot 3s and finish near the rim, but he doesn’t do any of those things exceptionally well. When Pietrus returns, Lee will be the first guard off the bench, while Redick and Bogans platoon the remaining minutes on a night-to-night basis. TRADE? One of these guys is one the move before the trade deadline. Otis Smith likes the chemistry on this team, and he won’t do anything drastic (i.e. trade Hedo). If a move is made, it will be made for a backup forward or a 2nd-round choice.
