Magic rock the Earth’s foundation, trade Keith Bogans for Tyronn Lue

Magic fans, your prayers have been answered. Tyronn Lue is back in a Magic uniform. While it’s certainly not Earth-shattering, it gives the Magic an offensive-minded point guard who can hit the open 3-pointer. I imagine a lot of fans won’t like this trade, but what do you want the Magic to do, go out and get Monta Ellis or Raymond Felton? Magic followers remember Lue as the mediocre point guard on one of the Magic’s worst-ever teams. The Magic were 21-61 that year, and Tracy McGrady was traded shortly after that. Lue went on to have a couple decent seasons after that – he averaged 13 and 5 with Atlanta in ’05. With so much talent around him here in Orlando, Lue won’t have to do much. Just hit open shots and don’t turn the ball over. Lue comes cheap from Milwaukee, and his contract expires after this year. So it’s not like this trade comes with any baggage. The Magic aren’t going to push for the No. 1 seed anymore – that ship sailed with Jameer Nelson’s shoulder. But they should sure up the No. 3 seed and are still a team that nobody wants to play in the playoffs. It’s simple – Hedo Turkoglu needs to step up. It’s all on Hidayet. If he can return to last season’s form during crunch-time, the Magic are still a team to be reckoned with.
