Magic in talks to acquire Vince Carter from Nets

UPDATE: The trade is official, according to the Star-Ledger. Two NBA sources have told Orlando Magic Daily that the Magic are in talks with the New Jersey Nets to acquire Vince Carter. The sources said the move would primarily be a salary dump for the Nets, who would acquire the expiring contracts of Tony Battie and Rafer Alston. ESPN.com’s Chad Ford is reporting that the deal would also include fan-favorite Courtney Lee going to the Nets and New Jersey’s 2009 first round pick Ryan Anderson (a power forward) coming to the Magic. This would be quite the deal for the Magic, who have expressed interest in Carter multiple times in the past. It would be tough to see Courtney Lee go, but Anderson is a good young player that would fit very nicely into Stan Van Gundy’s offensive game plan. We’ll provide more details as they become available. What do you think? If you were Otis Smith would you pull the trigger on this deal?
