Instant reaction: Game 5

Here are some quick and random thoughts after Sunday night’s Game 5: * I ran out of thoughts as the game progressed and the Magic let the game slip away further and further. It was a disappointing end to an otherwise fantastic season for the Magic. I’ll have more later on. For now, congrats to the Lakers. They were the better team, no doubt about it. * The Magic came out extremely active on defense, jumping out to a 15-6 lead behind three steals and six points off turnovers. They were getting their hands on the ball when the Lakers had it in the post, and the Magic were hunting down rebound after rebound. It was nice to see the Magic come out so strong — an onslaught of Kobe jumpers go the Lakers right back in it, though. * Dwight Howard scored out of the post on three consecutive possessions in the second quarter, all while Pau Gasol was out of the game. * Andrew Bynum went 2-for-9 in the first quarter. That has to be a career-high for shots in a quarter? * “MVP” chants broke out in the third quarter as Kobe Bryant was shooting free throws.
